Woman are taking over prestigious professions at a rate of knots, thereby leaving their mark on society. The funeral business is a good example. In recent years the sector has attracted a completely different type of person: funeral directors are now creative, largely self-employed and... most of them are women. Funerals have become personal, with relatives being given a larger say in what happens. This has led to an explosion of ritual creativity. The change goes hand-in-hand with the feminization of the funeral sector. Some funeral directors only work with female franchisees and we are seeing more and more women carrying the coffin. These female pallbearers were what inspired me to make a video emphasizing the fact that they are women and that they have to use their femininity to sell themselves. i hope that this will highlight both sides of the coin of feminization in the business sector.
